"A new discounted transit fare for low-income residents is now available in Waterloo Region.
People can apply for the Affordable Transit Program, which gives a 48 per cent discount on the price of Grand River Transit monthly passes or stored value (money loaded onto a transit card).
It consolidates the region’s existing subsidized programs and simplifies the application process with the aim of offering discounted fares to more people living on a low income.
"Those most in need of an affordable pass will get it,” said Neil Malcolm, assistant director of transit services."
The Working Centre is offering assistance in fulling out applications for the discount transit program at 58 Queen Street South, Kitchener.
