The Working Centre is engaged in creative ways to build community, to respond to the issues of poverty and unemployment in our community, and to support one another and our wider community in engaging in the personal change needed to constantly redefine our work in ways that are dynamic and inventive.
One of our goals is to engage in conversations with creative thinkers and with people involved in the work. In order to expand this conversation, Books for Sustainable Living help us to look at available books and resources that challenge our habits and open us to new ideas and thoughts.
Books for Sustainable Living offers hundreds of books selected to help community workers, critical thinkers, and others to investigate, plan, and fine tune their ideas and ventures.
The books focus on ways people can learn to live in more ecological, neighbourly, and sustainable ways. Books on creativity and independence, earning less but living more, the integration of community and work, analysis of social issues, environmental concerns, spirituality, cycling, and food and gardening make up most of our inventory.
Books for Sustainable Living are currently available at the Queen Street Commons Café at 43 Queen Street South in Downtown Kitchener. You can also order featured books in our quarterly newsletter, Good Work News. In most cases we ship our orders within three days, depending on availability and access.
If you do not find what you are looking for or if you have any questions about our book collection, please contact us and we will be happy to help you. With this selection of books The Working Centre hopes that you will become familiar with our philosophies and ideas. All proceeds from book sales go to support Working Centre projects.
