Exchange-friendly Marketplaces are places and spaces in Waterloo Region where producers and purchasers can meet and further facilitate or complete trades and exchange. If you are a home-based producer or small business without a storefront or established retail location, you may wish to meet with customers at an Exchange-friendly site. Purchasers are able to meet with producers in convenient locations and retail centres in Waterloo Region.
The Working Centre hosts Exchange-friendly sites out of our Community Tools projects. People completing exchanges that originated on the Local Exchange website are welcome to meet at Queen Street Commons Cafe, Worth a Second Look, Hacienda Sarria, The Localism and Livelihood Desk, and The Green Door during open hours. People meet-up as part of daily operating activities - Exchange-friendly sites help to build a community of local exchange activity in Waterloo Region.
The Localism and Livelihood Help Desk is available to support potential Marketplace opportunities. Are you a business or community space that would like to be designated an Exchange-friendly marketplace? Are there ways to collaborate together, to host events where we meet one another? Connect with the Localism and Livelihood Desk to continue the conversation.
