Craft a list of questions that suit your goals with the help of an Employment Counsellor. Don’t ask questions that are obvious and can be obtained from the company’s website. If you have spent the time crafting your job goal, you should be able to ask questions that relate to the particular areas of focus for you. You can ask about the sector itself, the specifics of the job, or the culture of the company. You can ask them to offer you advice, or request that they give you a sense of how likely you are to find work in this type of sector/job.
Questions that are open-ended encourage answers that might surprise you and open your thoughts in a new direction. “Do you have any other comments or suggestions for me?”
At the end of the interview, be sure to ask if they can suggest someone else that you could meet to learn more. Ask if you can use their name when contacting this person for an informational interview and be sure to respect their wishes.
