Habitat for Humanity is offering several volunteer positions.
Build Site Hospitality - Food Services Associate: As part of our appreciation to our build site volunteers, lunch, snacks and coffee are served daily at the build site. Snacks and lunch are often donated by various organizations in our community. When donations are unavailable, we provide the food. We are seeking volunteers to welcome donors, and assist them with set up and clean up. As well, volunteers will be involved in preparing and cooking the food; setting up for lunch and break, cleaning-up, restocking the fridge and condiments as needed. Key skills include an ability to follow a set menu of simple recipes and cook. Both lunch and snack are provided daily for our hospitality volunteers as well. This position is run out of 234 Kehl Street in Kitchener, where a full Region-inspected kitchen and lunchroom are available. Sign up online http://www.habitatwr.ca/hospitality

Candidates for these positions will have some knowledge of construction work and tools, and be able to guide a small group of volunteers on site. We require a longer time commitment from team leaders; leaders must be willing to volunteer for 1-5 days per week for a minimum of 6-9 months. This is a great opportunity for people who already have construction experience and would like to expand their leadership skills. These positions are located at our build site, 234 Kehl Street, in Kitchener. For this position, please contact the Build Site Volunteer Coordinator directly at volunteer@habitatwr.ca

Volunteer ReStore Associate: When you volunteer at our ReStores, you are directly helping families in need of affordable housing build a brighter future. Our volunteers help us with many tasks related to the daily operation of the stores, including: basic customer services, receiving and processing donations, stocking and organizing the store floor, repairing and reviving merchandise. The proceeds generated by our ReStores help us cover our administrative costs, meaning that we can distribute more of our resources to our build sites and put more families from Waterloo Region in new homes. If you are interested in volunteering at our Waterloo and/or Cambridge ReStore, please visit our website http://habitatwr.ca/restore-0
Deconstruction and Salvage Volunteer Crew Member: We are seeking volunteers with an appetite for deconstruction! With the help of our volunteers, we go into the homes of donors throughout Waterloo Region and remove unwanted kitchens and household fixtures at no cost. We then sell these items in our ReStores at a reduced cost to the general public, which in turn funds our home-building projects. If you enjoy physical work, have some (de)construction, plumbing or electrical knowledge, and/or are simply willing to learn, this opportunity could be perfect for you. Our Salvage program runs daily for a few hours in the morning, with personal transportation throughout Waterloo Region required. CSA-approved safety shoes are also needed. Please contact our ReStore Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@habitatwr.ca to register for a shift.
