The REEP Home Assistance Program is aimed at reducing the energy burden for those in need. Eligible participants, including tenants and homeowners, may receive free energy efficiency upgrades, depending on the heating and housing type.
REEP is proud to be working with GreenSaver in providing this program in Waterloo Region. The program is funded by the Ontario Power Authority and administered by our local distribution companies: Waterloo North Hydro, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, and Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro. Additional water measures in Kitchener are funded by Kitchener Utilities.
Free upgrades may include:
- Energy saving light bulbs
- Energy efficient showerheads, faucet aerators, pipe wrap
- Electric power bars
- Draft proofing and insulation (Electric Heated Homes Only)
The Home Assistance technician will also assess the age and energy consumption of your major appliances. Some homes may qualify for free replacement of very old:
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Dehumidifiers
- Window air conditioners
