Refugee / Newcomer Housing

About Refugee/Newcomer Housing

The Working Centre hosts affordable housing options with a focus on refugees and newcomers who are settling in our community but facing challenges finding housing. Options include temporary housing options, plus our building on Queen Street that focuses on supporting refugee/immigrant women and their children with stable housing.

Louisa Street Hospitality House

Louisa Street Hospitality House supports refugees, 6-8 people at a time, as an alternative to the shelter system.  People live independently and are linked with settlement partners as they look for housing.

Queen Street Apartments

Located as part of our Queen Street campus of projects, this housing supports 21 immigrant/refugee women and their children to access affordable and supported housing.  These beautiful loft apartments were retrofitted with the help of the Rapid Housing Initiative funding in 2022-2023. Affordable Housing

Nestled within our Affordable Housing units we support a number of refugee families who find home in Working Centre apartments and houses. Housing stability is an important part of settlement.

Supports for Refugees/New Canadians

The Working Centre provides support to refugees and new Canadians who are living in our housing units and through our other projects of The Working Centre.
