About Queen St Commons Café
The Queen Street Commons Café, located at 43 Queen Street South in Kitchener, has been the kind of gathering place that is central to community vitality. Then came the pandemic where public spaces like this closed. Then came the very urgent challenges of people living without shelter in our community. So that’s where our energies went – providing shelter to those who had none.
Weekly we hear requests to re-open the Queen Street Commons Cafe, and we are working on this. We have become mired in some Building Department requirements as we seek to reopen, and we need to do some costly renos to the space, but this is something we are working on! Donations welcome to help make this possible.
We look forward to re-opening this space. Here is how we describe this space.
The Queen Street Commons is a community café located in downtown Kitchener, offering a wide range of affordable, vegetarian home-style meals, snacks, desserts, and fresh-roasted coffee. Prices are affordable to ensure that all are welcome. We also encourage donations towards the operation of the cafe to help offset our low prices.
The Queen Street Commons has a long history of being an affordable and inclusive meeting place, where people from all walks-of-life gather in common. We understand one another more when we know each other, and build on ways to engage and be together. We enjoy good food, good conversation, and a multitude of community events – music, film, debates, discussions, and more.
