Volunteer
We welcome you to volunteer at The Working Centre
– join around 500 others who are contributing their time and skills, and helping to form the community of The Working Centre. The word “volunteering” doesn’t quite capture the work we do together – we are building on the idea of Common Work – the work of sustaining and supporting a creative community committed to the common good.
With over 30 projects, there are many ways to contribute. It often helps to connect directly with one of the projects to explore if there is a match for you. Here are some ideas:
How to Get Started
Do you have a favorite Working Centre project that you would like to get involved in?
Is there a specific skill or gift you have to offer?
For example, if you are someone with food preparation skills/experience, you might consider volunteering at:
- St. John’s Kitchen on weekdays we warm up and serve meals to 500 people a day
- Maurita’s Kitchen preparing daily meals for St. John’s Kitchen and the shelters, with close to 700 meals a week day being prepared
- Fresh Ground Café supporting food prep and food service for our plant-based café
- Queen Street Commons Café which will be reopening in the Spring of 2025
Once you pick a project, email the contact listed on the website for each project.
If you are not sure where you would like to volunteer, send us an email to [email protected] with information about what you are looking for.
