The Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries (SPCCND) is hosting the 12th Annual Poverty Symposium.
This year's symposium will explore how media can be included in the work of promoting awareness of local poverty issues. Representatives from a variety media sources will provide information and inspiration on ways to become more media savvy.
Keynote Speaker Daiene Vernile: Daiene is a former broadcast journalist who has re-dedicated her energy to serving the community through public service as an MPP for Kitchener-Centre.
Keynote Speaker Howard Elliott: Howard has been an editorial executive at the Hamilton Spectator for over 25 years with active involvement in community and poverty reduction work.
Discussion Panels will be made up of people with experience sharing the message of poverty through media, including award-winning journalists and representatives from local initiatives.
Tickets are $75, and $20 for participants living on a fixed income.
